Don Quixote:Miguel de Cervantes (Book Review)

Don Quixote was a Spanish novel written by Miguel de Cervantes. The full title of this novel was Don Quixote of La Mancha, The Ingenious Gentleman. This great novel was basically published in to two main parts, in 1605 and 1615. It is generally considered as the first modern and present-day novel and one of Western literature’s greatest and most finest works.
From the very start, the cover of the book was more on classical and fictional and it focuses on the image of don quixote and his squire Sancho Panza were riding to their horses.

Don Quixote is a novel about a man and his squire attempting to prove that chivalry is alive and well and aspiring to be heroes. This great novel explores themes of chivalry, romance, and sanity. This novel is defined as a fictional book-length prose story centered on character development and action. The mainpoint of the body of the story centers around the adventures of an old man from La Mancha Spain named Alonso Quijano, this man likes to read very many chivalric romances that he either loses or pretends to lose his mind in order to become a knight-errant to protect and serve his country and named himself as Don Quixote. Sancho Panza, is a simple farmer, and Don Quixote hired Sancho Panza as his squire, and Sancho Panza frequently employs a unique wit in dealing with Don Quixote’s rhetorical monologues about knighthood.

“for I know by experience that I have enemy, visible and invisible”
-Don quixote
In this quatation, Don Quixote show bravery and gallantry even though there was no true villain in the story, he kept thinking outside the box to secure his own love. This one line we all experience. We know in ourselves that we have an enemy that we can face and converse with and we also have an enemy that we cannot see but we try to fight. An example of this is overthinking. Everyday it happens to us because sometimes we have a lot of problems with family, friends and to ourselves and sometimes also with our desires to fulfill our struggles. We always experience it and fight to avoid grief and pain.

“He was the power of action and mine is power of writting”
-Cide Hamete Benengeli
On this part Cide Hamete Benengeli revealed that Don Quixote is only his stepson in other terms, that he is not fully responsible for molding and creating the character and behavior of Don Quixote. This one line is important and applies to us youth. This means that we as individuals make our own decisions in life and we also do things that are good for us. All success and defeat are based on the actions we take and show. And our parents, brothers and sisters and friends are the only guides and scribes of what we do.

“Such a knight is fearless and daring” sound much better than, ” such a knight is timid and cowardly”
-Don Quixote
Don Quixote main reason here is, it is okay to be fearless and more protective knight even though it is delusion. Don quixote is trying to be a hero in his own story, he try to convey Don diego that her doings are not wrong and it is what makes him happy. It’s much better to be an competent, faithfullness and have the courage to protect someone than a knight who is afraid and fearful for his assigned duty.

But sadly, in the end of the story when Don Quixote and Sancho Panza return to their village of La Mancha, Spain, Don Quixote becomes ill, and dies.

As for what I read the main message of the novel was, People can be right while society is offbase wrong. In general, Don Quixote’s good intentions justify his actions because he sees the world a little differently. He seems to want to save the world, and his crazy imagination brings it to life. Even if no one sees what he sees, he kept persuing his goal. All individuals in this world have the ability to express their own views, movements, reactions to things and beliefs. Like Don Quixote, he is an individual who do’s what he wants to do no matter what society thinks of him. He kept reaching for the impossible. Let’s do what we want to do without stepping on other people let’s be wrong in society but perfectly right in ourselves. As long as we have good intensions to the people sorrounds us even they think that we are crazy. Don’t waste the opportunity to be happy. In the end life is life.

All in all, Don Quixote teaches us that life is meant to be difficult. A determined soul’s passion and discipline are essential components of being a leader. Don Quixote rejects contemporary reality. He imposes his imaginative imagery, commitment, and happiness on it.
